Markers

In the Timeline, you can mark a cut - which will create a horizonal yellow line over the cut.

Every cut with a horizonal yellow line over it is marked.

Create A Marker

To create a Marker over a cut, you can either

  1. Right Click on the cut in the Timeline.
  2. Select 'Mark Cut'.

Or

  1. Place the playhead on the cut.
  2. Use the keyboard shortcut key 'M' to create the marker.

Remove A Marker

You can just as easily remove the Marker by either,

  1. Right Click on the cut in the Timeline.
  2. Select 'Unmark Cut'.

Or

  1. Place the playhead on the marked cut.
  2. Use the keyboard shortcut key 'M' to remove the marker.

Common Marker Use-cases

The most common use-case of 'Markers' is to pair it with the 'Keep Only Marked Cuts' button.

As the name suggests, 'Keep Only Marked Cuts' button 'keeps' all of the cuts.

This workflow can be utilized to create short-form videos for YouTube, Instagram and TikTok.

Best Practices

Before clicking 'Keep Only Marked Cuts', don't forget to save your Timeline.

If you wish to go back to the previous Timeline, just apply your saved cuts. Learn more about saving your Timeline here.

In case you didn't save your Timeline and you wish to go back to the original Timeline, use the keyboard to hit Control + Z on Windows or CMD + Z on Mac.
