Issues with Variable Frame Rate Files

TimeBolt doesn't support Variable Frame Rate (VFR) files as they can cause a host of issue like (and not limited to),

  1. Video Preview Not Playing / Lagging.
  2. Timecodes out of sync in exported video.
  3. Timecodes out of sync in XML, FCPXML files.
  4. Timecodes out of sync with Timelines edited with Premiere Pro Extension or Davinci Resolve Integration.

To confirm if a file is actually VFR, you can use the Variable Frame Rate Detector within TimeBolt in the menu bar under Tools > Variable Frame Rate Detector.

This tool will analyze your file, confirm if it's VFR and give you an option to re-encode and fix your file.

You can also use Handbrake, Premiere Pro etc. to re-encode your file to Constant Frame Rate.
